Preserving Relationships Though Divorce

People will continue to have some interaction with each other, especially if they have children. If the kids are minors, under 18, then they’re gonna obviously continue to co-parent with each other, and it’s just – I think it’s real, real important for the parents to be able to communicate and get along going forward. Even though they can’t stay married and they can’t live together, it’s very important that they be united as they parent their kids going forward. If they do not, the kids will be impacted by it.

I mean some not as much and some quite significantly. And so I’ve had plenty of cases where the parents just have trouble getting along and it’s just not a good thing. Even people that have children who are grown, it’s also important to try to preserve, to some extent, their ability to communicate and be in the same room together. They’re gonna have weddings potentially down the road, grandchildren, so I think it’s just a good thing to look ahead and not just be consumed with the moment.
