sure I’ve handled many homicide cases I
had a murder case a few years back where
my client was in North
Minneapolis uh at a convenience store uh
pulled out a handgun as he was walking
out and shot uh someone uh about 10 feet
away and then fled the whole incident
was captured on a security camera so
there was no question as to whether not
uh he had shoten the guy and and killed
the guy the victim as you may call him
ran away and then um and unfortunately
died about a block after running down
the street uh we were preparing the case
for trial and on the morning we were
picking a jury the um prosecutor dropped
the uh murder charge and he pled to a
man slaughter which from my client’s
perspective was a very favorable deal

Minneapolis, MN criminal defense attorney Ryan Garry talks about a memorable murder case he handled. He recalls handling numerous homicide cases, including one involving a client in North Minneapolis who discharged a firearm outside a convenience store, striking an individual from approximately ten feet away. The victim fled but collapsed and died a block from the scene. The incident was recorded on security cameras, leaving no dispute about the shooting itself. As the case was prepared for trial, and on the morning jury selection was set to begin, the prosecutor dismissed the murder charge. The client entered a plea to manslaughter, which, under the circumstances, was a highly favorable resolution.
