Braintree, MA personal injury attorney Michael Conley shares the philosophy that guides his work and the one most common piece of advice that he gives to clients. He emphasizes that his work revolves around people and the human element inherent in every case—whether it involves the victim, their family, the defendant, or other attorneys. All interactions are fundamentally human, and he believes there is never a need to be unkind. Even when handling the same type of case multiple times, the people involved always change, making awareness of the human aspect central to his philosophy.
He offers two key pieces of advice. First, he stresses that clients should let their lives guide their cases, rather than allowing the case to control their lives. If something is permissible with their doctor, they should proceed with it without hesitation. Second, he points out that there are no inherently “bad” facts—facts only become problematic if they are unknown. For example, returning to work is positive, but if the legal team is unaware of it and the client hesitates to share it, it could create complications. All facts are simply facts, and having a complete understanding of them allows the team to work effectively on behalf of their clients.
