So I am a personal injury attorney, and we represent individuals who have sustained catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. And I have developed a particular specialty representing foster care children who have been physically and sexually abused.

I wanted to become a lawyer so that I could help people and I’m really pleased to say that at Booth and Koskoff I’ve been given the opportunity to do exactly that. And one of the things that I most love about being a lawyer is at the end of the day achieving justice for my clients and being able to tell them about the result that we’ve obtained for them. So every day I come to work I’m happy to be doing the kind of work that I’m doing and the ability to help our clients really drives me to keep going.

When I am dealing with insurance companies I always assume that they are looking to get a quick deal and that they think that they’re dealing with an inexperienced attorney. So I always let them know that I’m willing to work with them and cooperate with them, but not at my client’s expense. They’re not going to get a bargain for settling quickly. So in other words we’re always prepared to go trial in every single one of our cases, and I like to let insurance companies know that.

I represent a lot of children who are in the foster care dependency system, and so for me the most rewarding part of my practice is being able to tell those kids, hey there are adults out there who care about what happened to you and who are willing to go to bat for you in order to obtain justice. Often these children have been failed over and over again by every adult they’ve encountered, and it’s extremely rewarding to tell them we care about you and we’re going to try to help you.

I am a court appointed special advocate, which is a CASA volunteer. So in addition to the work that I do on behalf of foster care children I also do volunteer work where I am assigned to one child within the foster care system in Los Angeles County, and it is my job to go to court on a volunteer basis and advocate for that child and make sure that that child’s needs are being met.

This short video features attorney Carly Sanchez as she talks about her passion for helping people and exactly what she focuses on in her work at Booth and Koskoff. She shares that she is a personal injury attorney who represents individuals in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. Over time, she has developed a particular specialty in representing foster care children who have been physically and sexually abused.

She pursued a career in law because she wanted to help people, and at Booth and Koskoff, she has been given the opportunity to do exactly that. One of the aspects she finds most rewarding about being a lawyer is achieving justice for her clients and being able to share the results with them. Each day, she comes to work with enthusiasm, motivated by the ability to help her clients.

When dealing with insurance companies, she operates under the assumption that they are looking for a quick settlement and may perceive her as inexperienced. She makes it clear that while she is willing to cooperate, she will never compromise her clients’ interests. She ensures that insurers understand that her firm is prepared to take every case to trial if necessary.

A significant part of her practice involves representing children in the foster care dependency system. For her, the most fulfilling aspect is being able to tell these children that there are adults who genuinely care about them and are willing to advocate for justice on their behalf. Many of these children have been repeatedly failed by adults in their lives, so it is particularly meaningful to show them that someone is committed to supporting and protecting them.

In addition to her legal work, she serves as a court-appointed special advocate (CASA) volunteer. In this role, she is assigned to a specific child in the foster care system in Los Angeles County, advocating for that child in court and ensuring that their needs are fully met.
