00:06
to be able to help clients is simply the
00:09
fact that

00:12
attorneys have gotten the benefit
00:14
of of this education of the law
00:17
but the reality is that the law fix fits
00:20
in the real world
00:21
and so when people come to us is it
00:24
because they have a problem
00:26
and of all and for which the law
00:28
permeates that problem
00:30
so our job is to try to help solve that
00:32
problem for them
00:33
help them with planning help them to
00:35
understand whatever it is
00:37
to come to a solution for them
00:40
hopefully for that improves their lives
00:43
uh
00:44
whether it’s financially uh or it deals
00:47
with the quality of their life

their skills and experience
01:10
i’ve been involved with the non-profit
01:13
resource center
01:14

01:20
non-profit
01:21
friends of the seniors langley senior

01:24
for example part of service with respect
01:27
to nonprofits or serving the boards
01:29

01:32
served as an
01:32

01:35
other professional societies
01:37

01:43

dealing with disability services i’ve
01:46

01:47
and a good example would be what
01:50
used to be called the rental housing
01:52
association of sacramento
01:54
valley it’s now a division of the
01:57
california apartment association where i

02:00
the president as well as being on the
02:02
board for quite a number of years
02:04
and helped to do a lot of mentoring
02:08
make the boards function and look to see
02:11
how to make
02:12
make the organization a success so those
02:14
are just a few examples

Sacramento, CA lawyer Cameron L. Hess talks about the most rewarding aspect of his practice as well as his service to the community. He remarks that what he finds most rewarding about helping clients is the ability to make a real difference in their lives. As an attorney, he feels privileged to have the education and training to understand the law, but he emphasizes that the law only truly matters when it applies to real-world problems. Clients come to him because they face challenges in which the law plays a central role, and his job is to help them find solutions—whether through careful planning, problem-solving, or strategic advice. His goal is always to improve his clients’ lives, whether financially or in terms of their overall well-being and peace of mind.
He shares that his commitment to service extends far beyond his legal practice. Since early in his life—he jokes, “probably since birth”—he has been involved in community and professional organizations. He has served on numerous nonprofit boards, including the Nonprofit Resource Center (now known as the Impact Foundry), which supports local charitable organizations. Even as a student, he co-founded a nonprofit called Friends of the Seniors for the Langley Senior Citizen Center.
His volunteer work spans both community service and professional leadership. He has served as an officer in local chapters of CalCPA, chaired various professional societies, and devoted years to organizations such as Easter Seals Superior California, where he supported disability services. In the business community, he has also held leadership roles, including serving as president and long-term board member of the Rental Housing Association of Sacramento Valley—now part of the California Apartment Association. Through these experiences, he has mentored others, strengthened organizations, and worked to ensure their long-term success and impact.
