i happen to think that i have the best
mentor in the practice of law that would
be my father-in-law dan o’connell who is
also a shareholder at tough doctor
arabic and o’connell i’ve worked with
him for almost my entire career and he
has been a huge influence on how i
practice law he is just a wonderful
person an attorney he has a great
experience and background also as a cpa
that i have gotten to learn from and i
think it’s just been so beneficial in my
practice
i have a couple key
pieces of background and experience i
think has partic particularly helped me
as a family law practitioner during law
school i
trained as and volunteered as a guardian
ad litem in ramsey county and so having
that experience having worked as a
guardian adult item obviously helps on
cases when we have guardians assigned
helps clients prepare for the process
understand the process and know what to
expect from having a guardian and item
in their lives
in college i was a trained
advocate for victims of sexual assault
and i also volunteered for programs that
worked with sexual assault victims and
also domestic abuse victims and that
domestic abuse background is very
important in the family law world
obviously because we deal with that
quite frequently

St. Paul, MN family law attorney Lindsey O’Connell talks about her mentor in the practice of law as well as her background & experience. He shares that he considers his father-in-law, Dan O’Connell, who is also a shareholder at Tuft, Lach, Jerabek & O’Connell, to be the best mentor he could have in the practice of law. He has worked alongside him for nearly his entire career and attributes much of his approach to family law to Dan’s guidance. Beyond being an exceptional attorney, Dan brings extensive experience as a CPA, which has been invaluable in shaping his legal practice.
He also draws on key experiences from his own background that have been particularly beneficial in family law. During law school, he trained and volunteered as a guardian ad litem in Ramsey County, which has provided him with insight into working with clients who have guardians assigned, helping them understand and navigate the process. In college, he trained as an advocate for victims of sexual assault and volunteered with programs supporting sexual assault and domestic abuse survivors. That experience remains critically important in family law, given the frequency with which such issues arise in his practice.
