Houston, TX family law attorney Darsey Norton shares why she became a lawyer as well as who her mentors in the practice are. She knew from a very young age that she wanted to become a lawyer, but it wasn’t until the summer after her first year of law school—while working at a family law firm—that she realized how the concepts she learned in class could be used to genuinely help people. That experience solidified her decision to pursue a career in family law.

She shares that every attorney at her firm has served as a mentor in some way. Having started as a law clerk, she appreciated the firm’s collaborative environment, where she always felt comfortable walking into any associate’s office—or even the managing partner Cindy’s office—for guidance. She values that each attorney brings unique strengths to the table, allowing her to learn something different from everyone, which has been incredibly beneficial as she begins her legal career.
