Well, first and foremost, I think you
need to be knowledgeable about the law,
this area of the law. And then you also
need to be most of our cases do settle
before they get to court. So, if you’re
going to get to court, you need to make
sure you’re going to be able to
successfully litigate. And that also
includes the ability to get the evidence
into um before the judge and or to
exclude the other side’s evidence. So I
believe we do a great job of
understanding the elements of the claims
we want to prove or the defenses that we
are asserting and we make sure we have
that evidence to support our case. So
whether it’s testimony by an individual
or documents we are very successful at
finding the evidence getting those
witnesses having them testify and also
excluding evidence that the other side
tries to offer at court. And then
obviously the relationship with the
client is important as well. So we are
honest with our clients with respect to
what we can do for them. We are not
going to tell a client one thing and
then not be able to do it. And um I
think that’s another strength of ours is
just being able to be objective about
our case and letting them know what the
strengths and weaknesses are so they
don’t incur a tremendous amount of money
only to go and lose.
So, I’ve recently been selected to super
lawyers for estate and trust litigation.
Um, and I’ve also recently been selected
to the top lawyer for 5280 uh in
Colorado for probate litigation. Each of
those has just a handful of lawyers. Um,
and I’m lucky to be have been selected.
I’m also the current co-chair for the
probate and trial committee, which is a
subcommittee of the estate and trust
section for the Colorado Bar
Association. And this committee um is
for lawyers, all the lawyers who
practice in this area.
Denver, CO estate planning & probate attorney Andrea Mahoney talks about what it takes to be successful in her area of practice.
