Phoenix, AZ estates & probate attorney Kaylee McMains talks about why she became a lawyer and the most rewarding aspect of her practice. She shares that she decided to become a lawyer because she viewed the practice of law as a meaningful opportunity to serve others. The legal profession provides access to tools and solutions available to everyone, and it allows her to help clients solve problems they cannot resolve on their own. She also values the intellectual challenge of the law, as it requires continuous learning and growth in response to its ongoing development and change.
She finds estate planning particularly rewarding because it enables her to guide clients through complex and often stressful decisions. Planning for an uncertain future—such as determining who will care for them if they become incapacitated or who will manage finances for young children—can be daunting. By working closely with clients to understand their goals, concerns, and fears, she crafts plans that address their needs while giving them confidence and peace of mind.
Her favorite part of the process is witnessing clients reach clarity and make decisions, culminating in the signing of their estate plan. At that moment, she often observes the weight of uncertainty lift from their shoulders, which she finds deeply gratifying. For her, estate planning represents one of the most fulfilling areas of the law.
