I think the most rewarding part of being
a defense attorney is probably
multiaceted. I think one of the most
important parts is being able to help
people through an incredibly difficult
time in their life. Uh they don’t call
me because things are going great. They
call me because things are they’re
struggling and they’re having a hard
time with something. I really enjoy
doing expungements for clients. making
sure that they don’t have felonies on
their record really opens up their job
opportunities and their educational
opportunities and most of the time gives
them a better place to live. Uh because
with a felony you can’t live in most
apartment complexes really. Another part
is is drug addiction, alcohol addiction,
trying to get people away from that. Um
and we’re seeing more gambling
addictions now than we’ve ever seen
before. So there’s quite a lot of uh
rewarding aspects. I get calls from
clients two years, three years after
their case telling me they’re going to
college or they graduated from college
or they got that job they wanted because
their felony was taken away. And it’s
just really great to hear what people
have done with their lives once they
leave me. Um because a lot of times I
don’t get to hear about that. So, I
really try to stay in contact with
clients and I reach out to their mothers
on Mother’s Day, to their fathers on
Father’s Day, really just to make sure
that they all know that I’m thinking
about them and that if they ever need
anything or if they want to update me
about their life, I’m here for that.
