Morristown, NJ employment law attorney Claudia Reis talks about the most rewarding aspect of her practice and her background & experience. She describes the most rewarding aspect of her practice as the ability to effect meaningful change in New Jersey workplaces, not only for her clients but also for their co-workers. She notes that her decision to pursue law, and ultimately employment law, was driven by a desire to help people. Unlike other areas of law that may focus on financial disputes or minor neighbor conflicts, she is motivated by the opportunity to address workplace discrimination and implement remedies that create lasting change. She often describes her work as “changing workplaces one at a time,” which she considers the most fulfilling part of her career.
As an immigrant, she spent much of her childhood and young adulthood translating letters and complex documents for her parents, who were not educated in the United States. She views this experience as a unique skill—a “superpower”—that allows her to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and accessible manner. She emphasizes that while many attorneys may discuss terms like discovery or summary judgment without clarification, she is committed to ensuring that clients fully understand every aspect of the legal process. Her upbringing, she believes, has been instrumental in shaping her ability to communicate effectively with anyone, regardless of their familiarity with the law.
