because of the
diversity of our law firm’s practice for

different practice groups

Baltimore, MD commercial litigation attorney Robert L. Ferguson, Jr. talks about his firm’s capability and experience in insurance defense. He states that he began his legal career working for an insurance defense firm under a highly skilled insurance defense lawyer, and he has continued in this practice for over 44 years. He thoroughly enjoys his work. His firm practices insurance defense and insurance coverage law in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Pennsylvania. They handle cases across a wide range of fields, including construction, transportation, aviation, maritime, product liability, condominium and homeowner association law, professional liability, sports and entertainment law, and insurance coverage in all of these areas.

The variety of cases handled makes coming to the office every day highly rewarding. The diversity of the firm’s practice allows the insurance defense group to consult with other practitioners across different practice areas. Currently, he is working with Tom Schetelich to help settle a case pending in the United States District Court in Arkansas, which involves a requirement to appoint a guardian for a minor child’s claim. They collaborated with Tom’s group in Maryland because the parents, who are doctors, relocated to practice at Johns Hopkins, and Tom’s group is assisting in completing the guardianship process.

Additionally, they occasionally consult with Craig Ballew’s labor and employment group to address certain insurance defense issues. The firm conducts all of its own trials and appeals and maintains an active appellate practice. They also participate in arbitrations and administrative hearings. Furthermore, they represent clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings, and they also serve as arbitrators and mediators when required.
