sure i’ll talk about a case i recently
had in the last year year and a half
it ended up being a very long trial it
was 13 days which was extraordinary in
itself there’s not too many 13-day
family law trials in the state of
minnesota or probably elsewhere
there was business to be valued there
were retirement accounts there was some
non-marital assets
the
spouse in this case was claiming that
she shouldn’t have to work so we ended
up bringing a motion to
seek a vocational evaluation which we
were successful in and the vocational
evaluation was very helpful in
determining spousal maintenance in this
case
Eagan, MN family law attorney, Susan M. Gallagher shares the story of a memorable high net-worth case she handled. She notes that the trial lasts an extraordinary 13 days, which is rare for family law cases in Minnesota or elsewhere. During the trial, the team values the business, examines retirement accounts, and assesses some non-marital assets. The client she represents argues that she shouldn’t have to work, so a motion is filed to request a vocational evaluation. The motion is granted, and the evaluation proves very useful in determining the amount of spousal maintenance in the case.
