Well, the short answer to that is of course, but they’ll have to live with the consequences. Generally, a person shouldn’t be terminated on leave unless you got a good reason for doing so. There are certain circumstance where someone can be terminated on leave, for example, there was a case of a nursing home, which discovered that their person dealing with eth nursing home resident finances was skimming from those monies. Well, of course, the person could be terminated from that. But in other situations, an employer should be careful that to make sure that the person being terminated on leave would have been terminated otherwise and should make sure things are carefully documented. We would caution against terminating someone on leave without a careful review of the facts and talking to their legal representative.
