I think Minnesota’s DWI laws are particularly harsh for those that drive for a living. Among those are those with a CDL or commercial driver’s license. Many of our clients who have a CDL are the sole breadwinners, the sole providers for their family, and if it’s even their first time and even if they’re driving their own private vehicle – not a commercial vehicle – if they’re arrested for DWI, they will lose not only their private driver’s license but also their commercial driver’s license. While they may lose their private driver’s license for 30 or 90 days, they lose their CDL for one year. So those are the type of people who should contact us immediately. In many cases we’re able to get their CDL back.

Roseville, MN DWI defense attorney Charles Ramsay talks about what makes DWI laws different for drivers with a CDL.
