so unfortunately there’s a large volume
of cases in which defendants are falsely
accused of domestic violence it’s very
popular in divorce litigation or custody
litigation for someone to make up bogus
allegations to try and get an upper hand
so in helping someone to defend their
domestic violence case we have to go
from top to bottom and we have to take
it very seriously if there is any
allegation we need to thoroughly vet it
we need to make sure that if there’s an
incident where there was a witness i
need to know what that witness is going
to say if there’s a police report we
need to make sure we get it and if
possible speak to the police officer who
came to the scene of the crime or
took the report we try and make sure
that we go through everything very
thoroughly so that our clients feel very
prepared and we are very prepared when
we try the case

Bradley Beach, NJ family law attorney Mackenzie DeLeon shares how she can assist someone who has been falsely accused of domestic violence. She notes that, unfortunately, there are many cases in which defendants are falsely accused of domestic violence, particularly in divorce or custody litigation where one party may fabricate allegations to gain an advantage. When defending someone in such a case, she stresses the importance of taking the matter extremely seriously and reviewing every detail from top to bottom. If an allegation involves a witness, she ensures she knows exactly what that witness will say. If a police report exists, she obtains it and, whenever possible, speaks directly with the officer who responded or prepared the report. Her goal is to examine every aspect thoroughly so that both she and her client are fully prepared and confident when the case goes to trial.
