my advice for people facing divorce
is to remain calm
to think in a balanced manner
to respect your spouse
and to keep the status quo that was
operating during the marriage oftentimes
these cases
unravel
because of mistrust
and a belief of something
that the one spouse is trying to get the
other spouse or that somebody’s
absconding with money or badmouthing
that parent to the kids
and those are the things that cause the
marriage or the divorce process to
become more complicated
longer
and more expensive
if you respect your spouse
as a human being notwithstanding what
they may or may not have done during the
marriage
you will have a much smoother divorce
and one that will be done faster and
more to your satisfaction

NY family law attorney Ken Jewell shares his advice for people facing divorce in New York. He advises that anyone facing divorce should remain calm, think rationally, and maintain respect for their spouse. It is important to preserve the status quo that existed during the marriage, as many cases become complicated due to mistrust—whether it’s suspicion of financial misconduct or negative talk about the other parent in front of the children. These behaviors tend to prolong the divorce, increase costs, and make the process more difficult. By respecting their spouse as a human being, regardless of past actions during the marriage, clients are more likely to experience a smoother, faster, and ultimately more satisfactory divorce.
