So, a target letter is a letter from a
prosecutor, typically from the US
attorney’s office, that states that
their office is is looking at you, that
they’re investigating you for
potentially for a crime. And with the
the way that federal offenses and
federal investigations go, if you’ve
gotten that letter, that means that
they’ve put in some time with this
already and that they’re they’re
focusing on you. What you want to do is
you want to immediately get in touch
with a with a lawyer. You want to
consult with a criminal defense lawyer
uh who is experienced in federal court
and discuss the purpose of that letter,
what it relates to uh and provide your
lawyer with as much information as you
can. One of the things I often tell my
clients is I can only advise you based
on what I know. And so if you don’t
share information with me and it comes
out later, it may be too late for me to
help you at that point.
Atlanta, GA criminal defense attorney Sanford (Sandy) Wallack talks about what you should do if you receive a target letter.
