Our industry is really expert driven. Since we’re dealing with technical trade areas and building components and various building assemblies on a single family residence that most laypeople don’t have any knowledge base in, and the homeowner particularly, a lot of times to educate the homeowner about the construction of their home, what we then do, in addition to the parties that are party to the lawsuit, we retain various engineers, whether it be a soils engineer or a structural engineer; and an architectural expert; and then ultimately a cost-to-repair expert to put a value on what the alleged conditions that the homeowner is complaining of, what it would take to remedy that situation.

So in addition to the parties, we’re also working to interplay with various experts, responding to the experts that the homeowners have also retained, and trying to find either common ground or whether or not we feel we can defend the claims and say that there’s absolutely no merit to the claims.

Phoenix, AZ commercial litigation attorney Marcus Tappe talks about how he gets the best outcomes for his construction defect cases.
