Class actions play a very important role in our system of justice because they allow us to ensure that we can hold corporations and other large entities accountable for any wrongs that they may have committed where those wrongs affect a lot of people but they only affect those people in a small way. And so if that happens, there is not one person who is going to want to come forward to bring a claim for a small amount but when people can join in large numbers they can effectuate a greater change, and so it really creates a nice check and balance system to ensure that large entities, corporations are following the rules, following the law and ensuring that there is a fair playing field for the small individual.

Minneapolis mass tort and complex litigation attorney Gordon Rudd reflects on the importance of class action lawsuits.
