uh children are um the biggest emotional
asset that anybody has and no one owns
them and so when people come to me and
they’re fighting about or in conflict
about where children are going to live
or the type of contact that everybody’s
going to have um as a parent myself I
really come at it um very nuanced
because like I said people are
emotionally charged about their children
the statute or the law in Washington is
very lengthy and has a lot of elements
to it meaning that we’re looking at a
whole host of things one of the primary
things we look at is what have you guys
been doing with your children what what
has been the history here and I start
with just the basics like who’s been
doing what who does the laundry who
washes the clothes who gets the
groceries um but I try really hard to be
understanding because when people come
in here and conflict is related to their
kids it is an emotional response no
matter how you approach it so I try to
approach it pretty delicately to be
honest
