When I think of serious car crashes, I think first and foremost that they’re always typically accidental. No one is intending to get into a serious auto accident; it’s what happens as a result of the accident to the injured person and how it affects their lives that is the focal point of me and how I pursue a case. So when I think about serious car accidents, I understand one, we all drive or most of us do, and two, basically when this happens, this is like in my case cases generally catastrophic or at least something that is going to be life-changing.
I think of a client of mine who was a mom, a young lady in her mid-20s who was married, who had a child that was maybe six years old already, a beautiful daughter. Just before her accident, she had just delivered twins, and she was married. Well, one day she got in the car; she was going to, as a matter of fact, visit a friend that was in the hospital. In the vehicle, sitting in the back, a semi-truck rear-ended her into the vehicle that she was in. Unfortunately, this caused her life.
Now look at it; we have a woman who was gone. She’s left behind her mother, her family, but more importantly, her newborn twins, her husband, and her young child. And now this family is forever affected, and their lives forever changed. That was touching to me, and I was proud to have served them, to make sure that they were properly counseled, but more importantly, that they were made whole based on this loss that they suffered. Money doesn’t fix it all, but in this case and in our system, it’s the best that we could do. And I appreciate the fact that I’m able to serve in that capacity. So that was just one case, you know, regarding a serious auto accident and a semi-truck.
Southfield, MI personal injury attorney Johnny Hawkins talks about memorable, catastrophic car injury case and how he was able to compensate his client for their loss. He explains that when he considers serious car accidents, he first recognizes that they are typically accidental. No one sets out to cause a catastrophic crash; what matters is the impact of the accident on the injured individual’s life and how that shapes his approach to pursuing a case. He emphasizes that serious auto accidents often result in life-changing injuries, many of which are catastrophic in nature.
He recalls a client, a young mother in her mid-20s, who had recently delivered twins and had an older daughter. One day, while driving to visit a friend in the hospital, her vehicle was rear-ended by a semi-truck. The accident caused profound and irreversible consequences.
The incident left her family—including her husband, her newborn twins, her older daughter, and her extended family—forever affected. He reflects on the personal impact of the case and the importance of guiding the family through their loss, ensuring they were properly counseled and that the legal process provided a measure of restitution. While financial recovery cannot undo the tragedy, he notes that it represents the best remedy within the legal system.
He highlights this case as an example of his commitment to serving clients in the aftermath of serious auto accidents, helping them navigate the complexities of their loss and securing the resources needed to support their changed lives.
