I consistently tell my real estate
clients they have to be comfortable with
their purchase they have to be
comfortable with their attorney they
have to be comfortable with their
mortgage officer the real estate agent
because after that transaction closes
they’re paying the mortgage I’m not
paying the mortgage the mortgage officer
is not paying the mortgage and the real
estate agent is certainly not paying the
mortgage they need to be comfortable
with their purchase I will never talk a
client into buying a home and I will
never talk a client out of buying a home
because I’m not the one who’s making
that monthly mortgage payment even if
the person is buying it cash they still
have carrying costs property taxes
insurance so on and so on so I always
tell my clients you have to be
comfortable with your purchase

Clifton, NJ real estate attorney Peter G. Aziz shares the advice he repeatedly gives to his real estate clients. He consistently tells his real estate clients that they must be comfortable with every aspect of their purchase—from the home itself to their attorney, mortgage officer, and real estate agent. He emphasizes that after the transaction closes, it is the client—not him, the mortgage officer, or the agent—who will be responsible for the monthly payments. He never pressures a client into buying or dissuades them from a purchase, because the financial responsibility ultimately rests with the client. Even for cash buyers, he reminds them that there are still carrying costs such as property taxes and insurance. His guiding principle is clear: clients must feel confident and comfortable with their purchase.
