Well, what makes our firm different from
other law firms is that our firm has a
staff that is
immigrant and immigrant backgrounds,
meaning the majority of our staff have
an immigrant background or are
immigrants themselves. So, we understand
the journey that it takes to proceed
into the United States, to file
paperwork, to become authorized to work
in the United States, ultimately gain
residence, and become US citizens. We
understand all of that from our own
personal journey, and that’s what sets
us apart from different law firms.

Here
at Gene Law Group, we handle cases that
involve humanitarian type cases such as
VAWA, temporary protected status, U visa
cases. We also handle family petitions,
whether or not it’s a family member
filing a petition for a person to gain
their residence or through marriage. We
also handle deportation defense where an
individual may be placed in removal
proceedings and we help those
individuals defend deportations.

Miami, FL immigration attorney Ruth Jean talks about what makes her firm different from others and the types of cases they handle. She explains that what distinguishes her firm from others is its deeply personal connection to the immigrant experience. Most of the staff either come from immigrant backgrounds or are immigrants themselves. This shared experience gives the firm a unique understanding of the challenges clients face—from filing immigration paperwork and securing work authorization to ultimately achieving lawful permanent residency and U.S. citizenship. Their empathy and firsthand knowledge of the process set them apart from other law firms.
At Jean Law Group, the team focuses on a wide range of immigration matters, particularly humanitarian cases such as those under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and U visa petitions. The firm also assists with family-based petitions, including those involving marriage or sponsorship by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. In addition, they handle deportation defense, providing strong representation for individuals facing removal proceedings and helping them fight to remain in the United States.
