The first of those is that trusts and
estates are all we do. Uh we don’t
handle normally anything like real
estate matters or corporate matters.
Anything that involves the probate court
or estate planning or assets of a
deedent. Those are things we focus on
and we specialize in that. The state bar
of California has made me a specialist
in estate planning and probate matters.
So that’s sort of our first focus is
that we are we are an extremely focused
law firm. That’s what differentiates us.
Second, we’re a small firm where all of
our attorneys have come from larger law
firms where they’ve received training uh
from the top lawyers in the world. We’ve
also come from top law schools like the
University of California, Berkeley,
Stanford, University of California
Hastings. So, we bring to our small firm
a big firm practice, but with a lot of
more handholding and client attention
than you might get at a large firm.
Finally, we also handle cases on what’s
called a contingency basis. We’ll often
take on a case where a client can’t
afford to pay us upfront. And so, what
we agree is that we will take the case
to trial if necessary or try to resolve
it. And whatever the firm recovers for
the client, the firm will keep a
percentage of that. Many large firms
won’t do that because of the risk or
because they might not get paid. But
that’s something that gives us
flexibility to help clients who might
not not otherwise have the resources to
go to trial.
So in the state of California, the state
board of legal specialization appoints
certain attorneys as specialists in
trust, probate, and estate law. And we
are one of those firms. And that
includes only 3% of all estate planning
attorneys in the state of California.
And only.5%
or 1 half of 1% of all attorneys in
California are specialists. So knowing
that someone’s a specialist should give
our clients the reassurance that we are
up to date on the law concerning trusts
and estates, that any new changes in
trust and estates are things we become
aware of and advise our clients of. And
finally, what’s most unusual about the
firm is that we’re estates and trust
specialists who are also trial
attorneys. That’s extremely rare. There
are almost no attorneys in the state of
California who primarily practice in
courtrooms, but also are specialists in
trust and estates. Certainly, those are
some of the qualities that a client
should look for in finding the best
trust and estate attorney for their
situation.

San Mateo, CA estates & probate lawyer Jeffrey Loew talks about what makes his firm different from others and what one should look for in hiring an attorney. He explains that Trust Law Partners LLP is distinguished by its exclusive focus on trusts and estates. Unlike firms that handle a wide range of matters, this practice is devoted entirely to probate court proceedings, estate planning, and the administration of a decedent’s assets. The California State Bar has certified the lead attorney as a specialist in estate planning, probate, and trust law—a designation held by only 3% of estate planning attorneys in the state, and just 0.5% of all attorneys in California. This recognition ensures that the firm remains current on all developments in trust and estate law and is uniquely equipped to guide clients through even the most complex matters.

Trust Law Partners LLP is also intentionally small, with attorneys who were trained at top law schools, including UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UC Hastings, and who previously practiced at some of the most prestigious large law firms in the country. This background allows the firm to deliver the sophistication of a big-firm practice while providing the personal attention and hands-on guidance that clients often cannot find at larger firms.

Another defining quality of the practice is its willingness to take cases on a contingency basis. For clients who cannot afford to pay legal fees upfront, the firm assumes the risk of pursuing the case—whether through settlement or trial—and collects fees only as a percentage of the recovery. This approach provides access to justice for clients who might otherwise lack the resources to assert their rights.

What sets the firm further apart is the rare combination of being both certified trust and estate specialists and experienced trial attorneys. Few attorneys in California possess this dual capability. This means clients not only receive expert counsel in trust and estate law but also have the confidence that their legal team is fully prepared to litigate and win in court when necessary.
