Elizabeth Fitch: I think the uniqueness about Righi Fitch Law group is that we are trial lawyers, and we are innovators and entrepreneurs. And so you put that all together and we do have a unique perspective because we are able, and we pride ourselves on early evaluations had been creative on how we fulfill our clients goals.

Richard Righi: Well, it depends on the clients particular problem, of course. But if the client is looking to hire a litigation firm, if they are involved in whatever capacity in litigation the person who is looking for the firm needs to ask if the lawyer they are going to hire, or are thinking about hiring has trial experience. Because it is so important in our industry that whoever you have handling your case, or that is primarily responsible for handling your case is a trial lawyer and has tried many cases. And so you need to ask that lawyer how many cases have you tried? Are they jury trials, and what were the topics? Have you tried a case involving the subject matter that I need help with?

It took me 20 or 30 jury trials in a variety of different topics to feel like I was an experienced trial attorney and that I could market myself as an experienced trial attorney. I hear often times from folks in the risk industry, folks that manage litigation, and even from some attorneys that might not have as much experience that trial experience doesn’t matter as much anymore because most cases don’t go to trial. And I always respond that that is a mistake, and the reason it is a mistake is because after having tried so many cases we know what these cases look like at the end.

Trial work is much, much different than litigation work. It’s a completely separate area of the law, and merging them together takes experience. At the beginning of every case because we know what that case is going to look like after it’s tried, we set the case up differently. We set it up to win. We set that case up to try it later if we have to, and in the meantime, it improves our chances of resolving the case cheaper and quicker because the other side knows we’re going to try it if we have to. And we have the case set up and evaluate it Righi away, or as soon as we can after we receive the case. A lot quicker than we would be able to otherwise because we know what that case looks like after trial.

And so I think it’s real important that whoever it is that is seeking litigation services ask that question.

Phoenix, AZ commercial litigation attorneys Richard Righi & Elizabeth Fitch talk about what makes their firm different and what clients should look for in retaining a firm.
