Yes, you can get fired for filing a workers compensation claim because the employer has the power to fire you for any reason if they want to. The better question is what rights do you have if an employer wrongfully fires you? And I use the word wrongfully because there is a specific provision in the workers compensation laws that prohibits an employer from retaliating against an injured worker for filing a work comp claim. And it’s a fairly significant damage claim if you are able to establish that that is the reason you were fired or in any other way harassed or retaliated against.
