Well when a veterinarian is called before the board because of a complaint from a customer, they will get a notice in the mail, the complaint, and that notice will also ask the veterinarian to respond to the complaint in writing. And right out of the gate, I believe a veterinarian will find the most success in facing those charges is to have an attorney review what he or she has written to the board in response. So like any complaint, I mean it’s not necessarily a criminal complaint, but I think it’s just as serious as a criminal complaint. The veterinarian has due process rights, and I think that engaging the services of a lawyer to help them at the beginning of the process helps insure that they’re due process is adhered to.
