Probate is also a very time consuming process, because courts are backlogged. And so probates can take a while to get through because of that backlogged. Normal administrations that we can do four to six months will take, you know, well over a year. And so people want to, you know, they want to get through this process as easy as they can – as easily as they can, and they want to, they want to have it handled. So it’s generally expense. It’s very time consuming. And probate is also a matter of public domain, and so people can see what assets you own, who is getting your assets and all sorts of things like that.

California estate planing and administration attorney, Laurence Dugoni, discusses the downside of probate.
