The best way to choose a trustee, I think, is to first determine what the role that the trustee is going to play. It’s not just a person who’s handling money for you but it’s often a person who’s going to be making very significant decisions for somebody that you probably care a great deal about. For instance, if you’re putting money into trust for your children, you want a trustee that’s not only going to be concerned for your children’s welfare but one that’s going to understand what you may or may not have wanted to be done and used that money for.
