Well, I like to think that we’re in the same vein as a smaller, very professional and experienced law firm because Randy and I, who founded it together, have a lot of experience and continue to have experience with the firm. I would say that what we try to do is be as professional as we can be, as fair as we can be, honest with clients. I will never tell a client they have 100 percent – if you run into a lawyer who says, “I won every case I had,” please leave his office because nobody wins every case. And not only that, there’s a rationalization about it. Sometimes there’s a settlement and you may have given away more than you wanted to. That’s not a victory, but it’s a victory for the process in terms of what’s happening.

So we’re very inclined to try to help people, but I can’t say that all our people necessarily are 100 percent in the right. Somebody asked me once is my practice moral or immoral. And I said, “You know what? I think my practice is amoral.” We don’t do anything morally wrong. We don’t necessarily represent the good guy versus the bad guy. Very often there’ll be two people in business. We represent one side. They have a perception of what happened, an honest one. The other side has a different perception. Lawsuit ensues.

Los Angeles, CA business attorney Donald S. Burris talks about how the firm decides on how to look at its cases.
