Title IX is a federal civil rights statute, which is designed to provide equality of access and opportunity for students in all kinds of educational settings whether it’s elementary school, middle school, high school, or colleges. We’ve heard a lot about Title IX originally as a sports statute providing equality of access in sports. In the last two or three years however, Title IX has expanded to include campus sexual assaults, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse on campuses. Title IX is part of federal antidiscrimination law and it is available for students of any gender or sexual orientation.

New York sex abuse victim attorney, James Marsh, explains what Title IX is and how it impacts sexual assaults that happen on campus.
