I actually think that it’s most rewarding to me to be able to judge how we do with how much effort that we put in. I really prefer being paid based on how well we do rather than how long it takes us to do something. Grace and I have done business litigation and other things that where people are used to paying lawyers based on an hourly rate and we’ve done that but our practice now is almost entirely contingent fee. I much prefer that because the better we can do for a client the better we do for ourselves and that motivates me.

Denton, TX trial attorney Bill Wood talks about what motivates him the most in his work. He explains that what truly brings me fulfillment is the ability to measure our success based on the effort we invest. Personally, I find it more rewarding to be compensated according to our performance rather than the time it takes to accomplish a task. While Grace and I have handled business litigation and other matters where clients are accustomed to paying lawyers based on an hourly rate, our practice now primarily operates on a contingent fee basis. I greatly prefer this arrangement because it aligns our interests with those of our clients. The more effectively we can represent and achieve favorable outcomes for our clients, the greater the reward for both them and ourselves. This serves as a powerful motivator for me.
