Well, my dad was a builder and a developer. So, my earliest experience in construction law was sweeping floors and doing – mowing lawns, and doing all that sort of stuff. I grew up – dirt is in blood; it’s why I think I gravitated toward real estate construction.

My initial involvement in construction real estate was on the defect end. So, I represented builders and developers who had claims – primarily residential – and I defended those claims. Then, I did a lot more commercial defect – bigger defect claims, and then, I started doing the transactional stuff. And so, now I help them how to – try to avoid the problem in the first place.

But the dirt’s still there in my blood.

Minneapolis business attorney Stephen Yoch of Felhaber Larson shares his experience practicing construction law.
