Absolutely. You know part of what people need to understand when they bring a claim is that they actually have to prove how much they were damaged and sometimes people when they come into my office are so frustrated because they just can’t understand why the insurance company won’t pay them for everything. Well, it’s a two-way street, you know the insurance company and the insureds have to work together and part of the what the insured has to do is provide information about what they owned including for all of their personal property a list. And that’s typically referred as an inventory. It’s going to cover the number of different items that someone owns, how old they were, what kind of condition they were in just a little bit of information about each with pricing. And the insurance company then reviews that so that they can issue payment to the insured or make their own assessment of how much damage there is.

Oakdale, MN insurance coverage attorney, Adina Bergstrom, discusses what happens if your insurance company requests a property inventory from you.
