Veterinarians on Disciplinary Board

From my experience, probably the biggest reason why a veterinarian is called before the Board of Disciplinary Action is a complaint by a customer. A customer will make a complaint that the treatment of their pet was either wrong, improper, or a complaint about sometimes even how much the veterinarian charged. And once that customer makes a complaint, the Board of Veterinary Medicine has a duty to investigate that complaint, no matter how trivial or inconsequential the veterinarian may think it is. And once the veterinarian receives that complaint, he has a duty under the law to respond to it, no matter what he thinks of it. So that’s generally when a veterinarian is called before the board, is when there is a complaint by a customer.

Minneapolis Estate Planning Attorney Ned Ostenso, talks about the most common reasons veterinarians are called before the disciplinary board.
