My experience in representing veterinarians with the board, I’ve represented quite a few veterinarians when there has been a board complaint. Generally, I’ve helped from the time the veterinarian gets the notice from the Board of Veterinary Medicine. I’ve helped the veterinarian draft response to the Board of Veterinary Medicine, attending the hearings with the veterinarian, and helped to argue what the punishment should be in those cases, where there was found to be a violation.

And I think that with legal representation the veterinarian can help minimize whatever disciplinary action that the board metes out to the veterinarian, because there are different levels of penalty that can be assessed against them. Everything from just a reprimand to a public reprimand. It’s public to anyone who looks on the Board of Veterinary Medicine’s website. So the veterinarian surely wants to avoid that type of punishment. I think that a lawyer can help do that.

Minneapolis Estate Planning Attorney Ned Ostenso, shares his experience in representing veterinarians throughout his career.
