A petty misdemeanor is a non-criminal offenses. For example, a parking ticket is a petty misdemeanor, possessing 42 grams of marijuana in your home is a petty misdemeanor. Most people don’t know that it’s not illegal to possess a small amount of marijuana in your home. A misdemeanors a crime that ranges from zero to 90 days in jail. Gross misdemeanor cases can be between 90 days in jail and 365 days in jail and felonies can range from a year to life.
