Civil rights law is – the civil rights act was passed in 1964 as part of a really monumental piece of legislation that allows citizens to enforce their constitutional rights against the government. And really, what that allows us to do in the context of federal law is to represent people who have been seriously injured; people who have lost loved ones; or, people who have really had their civil rights violated in terms of a false arrest, a violation of due process, or something that might not seem as serious as a death or an injury. The law is set up to allow us to represent all those kinds of people. And what we find in our practice is that the law protects everyone. In other words, we represent people of all different ages, races, genders; everything across the board. And we find that the violations occur to all these people, and the law is there to protect everyone, regardless of your stature in society.

Minneapolis attorney Andy Noel explains what makes civil rights an integral part of American society.
