In today’s world, almost one out of every ten families has a child or heir with special needs, and special needs includes autism, bipolar disease, schizophrenia, someone who has – who’s blind or who has lost a limb. Anyone who has some physical or mental challenge. The key planning there is how do we protect the assets that that individual is gonna receive from having to be used before a benefit will kick in; a government benefit or a charitable benefit.

And also, how to protect those assets if that person is going to be scammed. So, I have a lot of clients whose children are probably capable, but they have low IQ or they’re on the autism spectrum, and the child is worried that someone will take advantage of them.

And so, creating the proper type of trust for any of those individuals is important so that the inheritance will be protected and used appropriately.
