Powers of attorney – the importance of well-drafted powers of attorney. So many times clients come in, and I meet with them, and they’re with mom or dad, or maybe they’re a married couple starting off, and they want to make sure that each other is in a position to care for the other should something unfortunate happen. But what I see people tend to forget about are their kids, and so when little Johnny or Susie turns 18-years-old and is headed off to college, all of a sudden it becomes kind of shocking of mom and dad when they realize that they have no more control – if you wanna call it that – over the little doofus they just sent off to college, so powers of attorney are super important.
