They can try. So, employers certainly do try to prohibit some social media at work. But I’d say practically speaking, most employers realize they can’t anymore because the vast majority of employees are going to have access to it on their handheld devices. So, even if employers have policies that you can’t use it at work, that’s really applying to the employer’s sponsored equipment not to their handheld devices.
