high-profile case usually what that
means is there’s been a lot of media
attention to the case that can taint the
jury pool or just cause a lot of
emotional distress for a case my normal
approach to a case like that is to make
it not a high profile case anymore and
that is we don’t make statements to the
media I’ve gone so far as to reschedule
hearings so that the media doesn’t know
about them and we appear in court on a
day when the media isn’t there to cover
what happened I have many strategies for
avoiding media contact which is what
makes a case a high profile case and I
think it serves my clients better to not
have a lot of media attention about
their case
Denver, CO criminal defense attorney David Lindsey discusses his approach to handling high-profile CO criminal cases. He explains that in a high-profile case, typically characterized by significant media attention, it is crucial to mitigate the negative impact it can have on the jury pool and the emotional well-being of the case. My approach in such cases is to de-escalate the high-profile nature by refraining from making statements to the media. I have even gone as far as rescheduling hearings to avoid media coverage, ensuring court appearances on days when the media is not present. I employ various strategies to minimize media contact, as excessive media attention can be detrimental to my clients’ best interests. By reducing media exposure, I believe I can better serve my clients and their cases.
