You know one of the questions I’m asked by many parents or students here in Washington, DC is what do I do? Last night I went out, I went into a bar or my son went to a bar and he got arrested for trying to get I with a fake ID. At Washington, DC this is an offense known as a misrepresentation of age and it’s relatively common with a lot of the kids who are going to college here in DC. It’s a serious offense in the sense that it can be a conviction on someone’s record. It can have affects on their driver’s license and it can affect them going forward in life. Fortunately, in DC there is a diversion program that is offered in most of these situations.

We can get your son or yourself entered into a diversion program that essentially requires them to complete two days of community service, pay a fine, and at the end of that time whether or not that’s two weeks, three months, come back to court and get their case dismissed. One thing that the attorney will do is that after the case has been dismissed within a six-month time at the end of that six months’ time, we’ll be filing a motion to seal this entire arrest. It is very important cause what it does it takes your son or you as a student and it puts you back into a place as if you’ve never been arrested before. It lets you essentially in most cases state that you haven’t been arrested. So if this happens to yourself or your son, give us a call, we’d love to help you.

Washington, DC criminal defense lawyer Christopher J. Mutimer shares how he can help someone who’s child has been arrested using a fake ID.
