I would say the most rewarding part of my job is being able to complete a family law case and see that there is some family unit left intact. It’s very easy to come into a family law case like a bulldozer and just leave everything in wreckage. Our goal is to try and maintain civility, bridge gaps between co-parents that are necessary and see them through a very difficult time in their lives to the other side where they can be true co-parents and move forward in an appropriate manner.
My background as a lawyer is not in family law, interestingly enough. I started with the trustee’s off, bankruptcy trustee’s office. I worked for a panel trustee in downtown L.A. So I had a lot of exposure to bankruptcy and business law through that office. When I started my own practice, I met Barbara who was practicing only family law. And that’s how I ended up starting practicing in family law. At first we were tackling both issues; civil matters as well as family law. But the deeper I got into the family law world, the more I realized it was what I wanted to do exclusively.
