He asked me a question about whether or not I had a problem in an arson case with the way that a guy dressed. It wasn’t me. I was sitting on the arraignment calendar and another lawyer got called to come up with his client, and I was sitting with a friend of mine. And, first of all, the guy’s last – he’s charged with arson and his last name is Flick. Okay? That’s bad for first, but he had a matchbook stuck in his belt and it looked like he always carried it. It was – I looked – I couldn’t believe what I’d seen, and I was just in hysterics over it. You know, why would you appear for an arraignment – your name’s bad enough – on an arson case and also be carrying a book of matches?

Minnesota criminal defense attorney Joe Friedberg tells a story of how a guy’s outfit got him in trouble in the court room.
