I think it’s important when you retain a lawyer that you don’t look for a lawyer who either engages in a cookie cutter process in terms of the way they handle their cases or is unethical. Because even though the goal of every case is to win or to achieve a result that can be characterized as a win if you don’t go to a lawyer who will customize the approach of your case or if you go to a lawyer who is a win at all costs both of those scenarios present a situation where you’re going to be expose, your case will be exposed both to the court and to a jury. And so, you want to go to someone who is going to take the time to customize the approach to your particular case and also who is ethical. Because if your attorney is ethical the judge will pick up on that, the jury will pick up on that, and ultimately, that will carry you to where you want to go and get the result that you want to achieve.

Because I’ve been practicing employment law so long not only have a I represented large corporations and been involved in higher profile cases but I’ve also had the opportunity to represent smaller, low wage earning individuals and smaller businesses. So I’ve represented both sides and its very rewarding in a situation where the client comes to you and feels like they’re kind of fighting against an insurmountable obstacle and you’re able to really help them through that and either kind of in a David and Goliath scenario with you would be representing the employee or the smaller employer who says I’m going to go bankrupt if I have to defend this claim. To be able to resolve those cases in a way that allows those people to go on and really change the course of their life or their business is extremely rewarding. And those smaller businesses and smaller individuals really give me great satisfaction because I try to work with those people to help them through situations where they may not have the resources but I can help them with my skill to connect to a result that allows them to go on to a better place in their life.
