Rude Doctors or Nurses

That’s an interesting question because again, I get calls on that issue quite often. Sometimes doctors are hardest on each other in the community. You know, it’s like well, I would have never done it that way, but again, it’s the question of did the other doctor make the decision on that standard of care to do something different than what Dr. B would have done. Again, hindsight is 20/20. I think sometimes when you look at it and you think, Well, oh, I wouldn’t have done it that way. I would have done it this way, it’s easier to look back in the rearview mirror and say this is how I would have done it.

Patients really believe that second opinion doctor, their opinion is that this first doctor did medical malpractice on me. That doesn’t necessarily translate. Sometimes when we’ve called providers who have given the second opinion and talked with them, they’re like well, that’s not what I meant.

I think when you’re struggling and you’re a patient, and I’ve been a patient, so I’ve had this same experience, and you’re not getting the answers or getting better and you go to a second doctor, you really kind of take away what you really want to take away. That’s hard because then, when they talk to an attorney and it’s like, well that doesn’t necessarily mean it was malpractice, patients and potential clients get frustrated. It doesn’t necessarily mean that anything was done wrong.

Minneapolis medical malpractice attorney Shannon Carey explains what a patient should do if the doctor or nurse was rude.
