I had a case just recently where a long-term business client was going to tear down a bunch of townhouses so he could make a development there. And so, there was one woman that continued to live there without permission and she finally left but her friend came in instead. He put the unit on the power grid again and so, by doing that, we actually had to go through an eviction process even though he was never a tenant. We were fortunate that the sheriff agreed with our position and the guy got the writ of restitution quickly and he no longer is there.

My most memorable case that I’ve ever done was in the landlord tenant area where I had a low-income tenant had violated the rules of the complex and was given a 10-day notice to vacate. While that is hard enough, this individual was handicapper and so he wasn’t able to get around. And so, meeting the 10-day requirement would have been impossible. And so, we were able to negotiate with the landlord, he was given a month and a half to look for another place and then leave and he was able to do that. When he got his bill, which was minor, he sent back payments but he also included a note and a $1 bill and he stated in that note I wish I could give more. T
