Well, the basic principles start off with constitutional law and whether or not that specific state has a connection to the issues that are being considered – whether it’s custody, support, divorce, et cetera. There are two specific uniform acts that govern this: the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act and the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act, dealing with issues of support and custody as well as issues of continuing jurisdiction on those issues.
